Proudly Welcoming Patients with CDCP Coverage
Understanding the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a government initiative designed to make dental care accessible and affordable for individuals with an annual household income under $90,000 who do not have private dental insurance. This plan aims to cover the cost or a portion of the cost of essential oral health treatments.
How the CDCP Works
Fully launched for the Canadian general public in May of 2025, the CDCP is intended to provide financial assistance for dental treatments to prevent and treat oral diseases. This initiative ensures better oral health outcomes, which are crucial for overall health.
CDCP offers coverage for a wide range of dental services. The level of coverage by the CDCP will vary depending on income, with potential co-pay ranging from 0% to 60% for eligible citizens with household incomes between $70,000 and $89,999.
Eligibility Criteria:
- You don’t have private dental insurance
- Your annual household income is less than $90,000
Not sure if you are eligible? Check your eligibility directly on the Government of Canada’s CDCP page.
Important Considerations:
- Pre-authorization: Some services, like crowns and certain prosthodontic procedures, may require pre-authorization before treatment.
- CDCP Fees: The CDCP has established fee schedules for covered services. All necessary, related fees must be paid in order to receive treatment with CDCP at Wortley Road Dental.
- Participation: Dentists must be enrolled in the CDCP and willing to bill directly through the plan to ensure coverage. (We are!!)
- Co-pays: Individuals with higher incomes may have co-pays for certain services.
Co-payments based on adjusted family net income (according to Canada.ca)
Adjusted family net income | How much will the CDCP cover | How much you will cover |
Lower than $70,000 | 100% of eligible oral health care service costs will be covered at the CDCP established fees. | 0% of the CDCP established fees. You may face additional charges as described below. |
Between $70,000 and $79,999 | 60% of eligible oral health care service costs will be covered at the CDCP established fees. | 40% of the CDCP established fees. You may face additional fees as described below. |
Between $80,000 and $89,999 | 40% of eligible oral health care service costs will be covered at the CDCP established fees. | 60% of the CDCP established fees. You may face additional fees as described below. |
Possible Additional Charges may apply if:
- The cost of your oral health care services is more than what CDCP will reimburse for these services. At Wortley Road Dental, we are open to having transparent conversations about the cost of treatments and procedures with respect to CDCP. Don’t hesitate to ask if you are concerned or confused about additional charges.
- You and your oral health provider agree to services that the CDCP doesn’t cover. For example, any of the cosmetic dental services offered at Wortley Road Dental would not be covered by CDCP.
