Tooth Desensitization

tooth desensitization by Wortley Road Dental

Our tooth desensitization treatment can help you alleviate the discomfort and pain of sensitive teeth. However, the treatment we recommend or provide will depend on the severity of your dental discomfort—from desensitizing toothpaste you can simply purchase over the counter, to fluoride treatment that can strengthen your tooth enamel. It may also be helpful to know the causes of this condition.

At Wortley Road Dental, we understand there are various possible reasons for sensitive teeth to develop:

  • Patients who brush too hard or grind their teeth can easily wear down their bites, breaching and exposing the enamel to hot and cold temperature
  • Gum recession, when your gums start to pull away and expose the root surfaces of your teeth
  • Tooth fractures, such as breaks, chips, and cracks, may lead to sensitivity due to root exposure
  • Sensitivity also happens after dental restorations like crowns and teeth bleaching, but should go away after a few days (we encourage you to call your dentist if it persists)

Sensitive teeth is a potentially serious issue that can lead to ongoing, consistent, nagging pain and discomfort. Rather than simply treat the problem (often by numbing the pain), our dentists believe in uncovering the root cause to possibly prevent it from occurring in the first place.

If you are, or a loved one is, currently experiencing sensitive teeth, please contact our dental clinic today to discuss the matter further. We may be able to help you determine why you are experiencing this pain, and provide options to you for possible tooth desensitization treatment.

To book an appointment, call or email us at Wortley Road Dental and we will schedule a suitable time. Our dentists will be pleased to help you overcome the problem, or otherwise treat it.
